The Vegas Royal-Tea Cocktail is a vacation in a glass

Nothing says "vacation" like a refreshing cocktail. Yes, yes, we're all still stuck at home. But the Vegas Royal-Tea Cocktail is worth masking up to get the ingredients (or ordering groceries - be sure to tip well!), and we promise you'll feel a thousand miles away from the everyday once you take a sip.

We'll be hosting a DIY cocktail mix-along at Royal Vegas Online, so we're giving you the recipe and ingredients in ahead of time.

This recipe requires advance preparation! You should start infusing your rum at least 4 hours ahead of when you plan to enjoy your drink. If you finish infusing your rum before you're ready to mix, make sure to filter out the tea - don't let your infusion sit for much longer than 8 hours.

You only need 3 ingredients to make the Vegas Royal-Tea Cocktail: Vegas Royal-Tea Infused Dark Rum, pineapple juice, and sweetened condensed milk.

You can use any kind of pineapple juice. The kind in little 6 oz cans works splendidly. Something fancier like the RW Knudsen Pineapple Coconut juice is also lovely…but the first time we bought it, we couldn’t make it last long enough to try it in the cocktail. It’s that tasty! You’ve been warned.

To make the Vegas Royal-Tea Infused Dark Rum, you’ll need our signature Vegas Royal-Tea, available now in our merch store!

You’ll also need dark rum. We used Mount Gay Eclipse and liked it a lot. We recommend a rum that is dark but not spiced, as the spices in the rum might clash or overpower the tea.

This is a simple recipe that responds well to variations:

Dairy-free: try Sweetened condensed coconut milk! You can buy it from a specialty grocer, or make your own:

Non-alcoholic: substitute 2 oz very strong brewed iced Vegas Royal-Tea for infused rum.

Forgot to infuse your rum? That's okay - substitute 1 oz very strong brewed iced Vegas Royal-Tea and 1 oz dark rum.

The Vegas Royal-Tea Cocktail

2 oz Vegas Royal-Tea infused dark rum (See Below)

4 oz pineapple juice

.5 oz sweetened condensed milk, or less to taste

Mint leaves (optional)

Instructions: Combine all ingredients in a shaker full of ice.

Shake until the outside of the shaker becomes frosty.

Using a strainer, pour the shaken cocktail over ice. Garnish with mint leaves.

Enjoy responsibly! As a variation, reserve the sweetened condensed milk until the end, and try pouring the sweetened condensed milk over top the shaken ingredients.

Infused Dark Rum

8 oz dark rum

2 tablespoons Vegas Royal-Tea (Available now!

Instructions: Put the dark rum and tea in a glass jar.

Cover tightly and shake to combine.

Let rest at least 4 hours but no more than 8 hours, or it will just taste like over-steeped tea.

Filter the tea out of the rum using a coffee filter or cheesecloth.

Drink straight or over ice, or in the Vegas Royal-Tea Cocktail!
